Ammonite Cuff Links

A pair of solid sterling silver cuff links. I made them by press moulding a real pyrite fossilised ammonite found on the beach at Lyme Regis and Charnmouth, Dorset in to silicone. I then pressed Precious Metal Clay in to the mould. Once dry the clay is heated to glowing cherry red to burn off the organic matter in the clay as it fuses the silver particles solid. I work on the components at both clay and silver stage while retaining the character of the original fossil.
